Poppet

Poppet is a very talented author who I chanced upon one day in an online group. Poppet writes in a wide range of genres, including horror, paranormal romance, and, most recently, comedy in her brand new book, Soul Cypher (Planet Fruitcake). One of the first things I noticed about Poppet’s writing was how elegant and poetic it is, with a great flow, an extensive vocabulary, and some fantastic imagery. The next thing I noticed was that she tells a cracking story.
The first book of hers I read was Quislings and my review was as follows:
‘I was very impressed with Quislings. It was a quick, addictive read with some genuinely creepy moments. The multiple viewpoints worked well as each character had a distinct voice and their own part to play. Poppet is a talented writer – some of the descriptions in here were brilliant – and I will definitely check out more of her work… Dusan sounds great too.’

I also have read Dusan and my review for that is as follows:
‘The blurb for this one caught my eye after I’d finished Quislings, one of Poppet’s other books, and it certainly did not disappoint. It started off quickly, presenting Dusan, a cool and fascinating character who has some unreal talents. The middle of the book was very much concerned with the relationship between Dusan and Aine, which contained some nice phrases and a few good laughs – particularly the doughnuts! The final quarter of the book was the best part, and I found it hard to turn the pages quick enough. The scene of the final showdown was absolutely spectacular. There were some great descriptions in the book my favourite was probably ‘Small amounts of life divorce her at a time’) and some brilliant battle scenes. Highly recommended.’

I had the honour of sharing anthology space with Poppet in Wild Wolf’s Twisted Tails, and this is a great way to sample her writing in the form of the three short stories.
The link for Twisted Tails is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wild-Wolfs-Twisted-Tails-Glenn-ebook/dp/B00CX77VC8/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1390916743&sr=1-1&keywords=twisted+tails

Finally, so you can see how varied and prolific her career to date has been, here’s her Amazon author page: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poppet/e/B0046MYVO4/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1390916743&sr=1-1

Take a look, I’m sure there’ll be something there that appeals.
Cheers!
